Are you in search of a rewarding volunteer opportunity?
Climb aboard! Volunteers are needed throughout the year to lead tours of our historic waterfront facility in Eastport, assist with community events, help maintain Museum grounds, gardens, and facilities, to restore historic wooden boats, and to work with our education team’s programs. Your volunteering efforts directly impact the goals and mission of the Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park. Below is a list of descriptions that the AMM has available for volunteers.

As an educational
programs volunteer, you will assist with hands-on, experiential educational programs for Pre-K to 6th grade students. Help guide children through dynamic activities to encourage their curiosity about the world around them. Our volunteers are an integral part of the Education Center. Share your love of nature and maritime culture to help students form a connection with the Chesapeake Bay.
and a history buff? The Museum needs outgoing and dedicated individuals to guide and inspire visitors throughout our hands-on, state-of-the-art exhibits at the Museum Campus. Duties include but are not limited to, operating our computer ticketing system, selling merchandise, and answering questions about the Museum Campus. Operating hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All training and materials are provided. A regular commitment is preferred.If you like interacting with
the public and are interested in working alongside fellow community members, then AMM needs you! Volunteers provide critical staffing and support for all the Museum’s fundraisers and community outreach activities. Annual events require nearly 50 volunteers, and summer concerts need 15 per week. We have opportunities for all physical activity levels but always need those who can do heavy lifting, especially set up and breakdown.
The Museum houses a
unique collection of objects, oral histories, photographs, documents, and books relating to the maritime history of Annapolis. The Museum concentrates volunteer efforts on digitizing and cataloging objects in the collection so that we can make our local history accessible to the general public.
Do you have a green thumb or just know your plants and flowers? If so, the AMM Garden Club is looking for you! We have two locations- the Museum campus at 723 Second Street and the Park campus at 7300 Edgewood Road. Our grounds are used for various purposes, ranging from weddings, educational programs, outdoor concerts, etc. and could use some regular sprucing and cleaning. Bring your favorite gloves and trowels and get ready to beautify! Dates and times vary.
Have you ever wondered what the keel of a 1940’s draketail workboat looks like? Our Wooden Boat Crew can be found painting, sanding, and patching our Chesapeake Workboats. Whether you are an accomplished carpenter or someone who is interested in learning new skills, you are encouraged to join the crew as they bring historic and classic working boats back to life as displays at the Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park.
The museum skipjack,
Wilma Lee, needs experienced sailing crew members to assist with safe operations on upcoming sunset cruises and educational tours. Shifts are typically 4 hours on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and the season kicks off in early spring. Volunteers are also needed to lead heritage tours onboard.
