MUSEUM CAMPUS
The Annapolis region has a deep connection to the Chesapeake Bay, celebrated for its oyster industry and vibrant maritime history. This legacy not only highlights environmental challenges, like over-harvesting and oyster depletion, but also underscores the critical need to preserve and understand our past. The Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park actively safeguards this heritage, ensuring it remains cherished and remembered by future generations dedicated to environmental stewardship.
The Annapolis Maritime Museum
(McNasby Oyster Company)
Since 2001, the Annapolis Maritime Museum has found its home in the historic McNasby Oyster Company, a testament to the watermen’s deep knowledge of the Chesapeake Bay’s health and ecological diversity. Nestled with direct views of the bay, the Museum Campus features the McNasby Oyster Company building, Barge House, three transient piers, and an exclusive beachside park—the only one in Annapolis—boasting a historic wooden boat exhibit. Here, the Museum fulfills its mission of educating the public about the Chesapeake Bay’s vast ecological wealth and history through interactive heritage exhibits, environmental programs, camps, and engaging community events.
