The Annapolis Maritime Museum offers guided tours as well as a World War II focused walking tour of Eastport. Specialty tours are offered to high school, college, and adult groups Mondays and Tuesdays. Tours offered by trained docents during Museum hours are free of charge. To schedule a group tour, please call 443-214-5872. The walking tour is a mobile app that can be accessed for free by anyone.

Museum Tours

Private Museum Tour

Price: $8.00 per person
Length: 1 hour (45-minute tour with 15 minutes built in for questions)
Recommended for group sizes between 12 and 15 people

Join a trained docent for a one hour tour of the museum’s permanent exhibit. Learn about Bay ecology in our ecology corner and witness an exclusive feeding in our 850-gallon aquarium. Learn about harvesting seafood from the waters of the Chesapeake Bay and how workers at McNasby’s processed seafood for sale to restaurants and grocery stores. Expert staff will be available to answer questions and to share artifacts and photos not on view during our standard free tour. Call 443-214-5872 for availability.

Family Tour

Price: $2.00 per person
Length: 1 hour (10-minute tour with 50 minutes of free exploration) Recommended for group sizes between 1-12 people

Interested in exploring the Annapolis Maritime Museum? Staff can make the museum available for your family or group upon request. After a brief tour (10 minutes) which includes a fish and crab feeding, guests may explore the museum on their own for up to 1 hour. Call 443-214-5872 for availability.

Exhibit Audio Tour

Price: Tour is Free, headphones available for $1.00
Length: 25 minutes

This audio tour is designed for visitors to enjoy on their personal devices and lasts roughly 25 minutes. The tour narration leads visitors through the permanent exhibit “Oysters on the Half Shell”. This tour engages with the maritime history of Annapolis through the voices and stories of those who lived and worked on the water. Special thanks to tour funders the Arts Council of Anne Arundel CountyEastport Civic Association, and to Remember Inc. for their work in creating this new tour.

Walking Tour

The Homefront: Eastport During World War II- A Walking Tour

Price: Free
Length: 1 hour, 1.5-mile walk

The Annapolis Maritime Museum offers a free digital tour accessible on Apple or Android devices: “The Homefront: Eastport during World War II— A Walking Tour.” The tour, which has 10 stops, is powered by GPS, so the locations can be viewed in any order. The locations include informative narrations and historic photos of Eastport in the 1940s. Participants will learn about the naval depot that built Vosper PT boats, Pearl Harbor’s impact in Annapolis, women’s work in war industries, and the war’s effects on everyday life in Eastport. The complete tour takes roughly an hour and is about a 1.5-mile walk. Click here to access the tour.

McNasbys – The Story of an Entrepreneur and his Family

Learn about William McNasby and how he built and ran a successful business during the oyster industry heyday. Listen to the stories of the people who worked and grew up in the Eastport neighborhood. This tour is designed to provide a personal history of the McNasby family business.


Introduction to Oysters in the Chesapeake Bay

Price: $8.00 per person
Length: 1 hour
Recommended for group sizes between 12 and 15 people.

Hear how oysters were harvested and processed at the McNasby Oyster Company. Participants will also learn about reef ecology, regulations, internal anatomy and how to shuck an oyster. This tour is designed for oyster rookies and is intended to give an overview of oysters and the industry.
