Annapolis Oyster Roast & Sock Burning Saturday, March 23, 2024 12:00-4:00 PM

Info

Celebrate the spring equinox and the beginning of boating season each March by burning those nasty winter socks at the Annapolis Oyster Roast & Sock Burning. In a tradition dating back to the late 1970s, Annapolitans relieve themselves of the necessities of winter as the “Burn Your Socks” is recited.

Live music in the past has been provided by popular local bands such as Naptown Brass Band and the Eastport Oyster Boys. All-you-can-eat oysters, a shucking contest provides a chance to show your shucking prowess, and for the young at heart, there will be fun activities and exhibits highlighting the area’s unique maritime heritage and the importance of the oyster to the health of the Chesapeake Bay.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Annapolis Maritime Museum’s award-winning education programs. The event is rain or shine.

Tickets will be available soon!
