AMM Schools Out Camp education

When school is out, AMM is IN!

We pack each day with nature exploration, hands-on environmental education, and FUN! At AMM, children can explore our beautiful Park Campus with friends new and old, investigate local animals, play games, make arts and crafts, and so much more! Open to K-5th grade students.

$75/ child for AMM Family-Level Members; $85/ child for nonmembers

All activities will be designed to be spent outdoors, so please come dressed to enjoy the weather outside.

A confirmation email with additional program details and reminders will be sent after registering.

If you are experiencing issues with registering, please email program@amaritime.org for assistance. Be sure to fully complete all the registration questions. 

In the rare case of low enrollment, a decision will be made three days in advance and communicated out via email to any registered families

Have you ever wondered what to call a group of animals? You may know a group of deer is called a herd, or a group of birds is called a flock, but what do you call group of grass shrimp or groundhogs? Join us to learn about some of the Chesapeake Bays animal groups and the relationships within these dynamic organizations.

Seeds, Seeds, Everywhere Seeds!

Seeds come in many different sizes and shapes!  Today we will experience some hands on fun with a seed dissection, searching for and collecting seeds and nuts, and learning how they are naturally distributed in so many ways.

Groovy Groundhogs

Join us to learn about the fascinating creatures called groundhogs or woodchucks and find out how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

 

Wed., 3/27

The Birds are Back!

Welcome Back to the Chesapeake Bay’s migratory bird species.  Play migration games and participate in Bird Olympics!  A bird scavenger hunt will help us identify the many birds who make their home here in the AMM Park. 

 

Thurs., 3/28

STEM of the Chesapeake Bay!

Come enjoy fun STEM activities and explore what our 12 acre park has to offer.  We will conduct experiments and complete “Chesapeake Challenges.”

Trees are Terrific!

Experience the AMM park full of trees budding in the spring time while we make tree “cookies,” investigate products made from trees, and learn why trees are so terrific!

Treasure of the Chesapeake

Here at AMM, we are proud of our rich maritime history and want you to experience it, too!

During our journey in search of “treasure,” we’ll hear real stories of Chesapeake Bay captains and pirates, investigate a Bay treasure – the Eastern Oyster, and create our own mini-boats in a STEM Challenge.

April Showers and Rainbows

Join us for a colorful day of fun!  Learn about rain and rainbows, while engaging in hands-on activities and games that represent all the colors of the rainbow.  

 

Tues. 5/14 Primary Election Day                  

Spring Has Sprung

Spring has sprung and there is a lot “growing” on at the Park! Those April Showers really do bring May flowers!  Compete in a scavenger hunt to detect signs of the season and get our hands dirty as we learn to create compost.

Fall Semester 2023 School’s Out Camp Dates

Monday, January 15 (MLK Day) – Weather in the Winter
Join us for a day filled with fun activities about the rain and snow!  Investigate the tides and test what temperature liquids will freeze on an outdoor day of fun!

Dates are based on the AACPS calendar. However, private and homeschool campers are welcome to attend as well! School’s Out Camp takes place at our Park campus from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. After Care is available from 4:00 – 5:00 PM.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations received 1 week before the start date of your camp, receive a full refund minus the $20 non-refundable registration fee.
  • Cancellations received 1 week after the start date of your camp, receive a 50% refund minus the $20 non-refundable registration fee.
  • Same-day cancellations will not be eligible for a refund.
