The Annapolis Maritime Museum's 25th Anniversary Retrospective Exhibit
As the Annapolis Maritime Museum celebrates its 25th anniversary, this exhibition spotlights 25 important photographs that represent the scope of the museum’s collections. The images offer a window into the Annapolis area’s rich maritime heritage.
Scenes from the bustling days of oyster shucking and packing are displayed in the McNasby Collection of historic images. The Eastport Historical Committee Collection, the organization from which the Annapolis Maritime Museum wasfounded, contains images of Eastport’s rural and small community maritime roots. The legacy of boatbuilders and maritime commerce based in Annapolis is captured in many of the family photography collections donated to the museum.
Annapolis’ important role in World War Il production is visible in the Eric and Thea Almen Collection, featuring scenes from the Annapolis Yacht Yard. Today’s recreational sailing culture is captured in the Will Keyworth collection. Recent additions from the Department of Agriculture depict the labors of today’s Chesapeake Bay waterman and seafood industry workforce.
Maritime Reflections imparts the historical significance of Annapolis’ maritime culture as well as nostalgia and remembrance of past times.
