Jess, a native Marylander, brings over a decade of experience in education and program leadership. She earned her B.A. in History from the University of Maryland, holds a M.A. in Teaching from Goucher College and a certification in School Leadership and Improvement. Jess holds an Advanced Professional Certificate from the Maryland State Department of Education in secondary social studies focusing on middle and high school levels and also has experience teaching college undergrads and facilitating teacher professional development.
Jess was a classroom teacher at Glen Burnie High School’s Biomedical Allied Health STEM magnet before being promoted to STEM Site Coordinator for South River High School’s STEM magnet program. During her tenure she prioritized promoting STEM’s five pathways, including Green Technology, partnering with local environmental organizations to create meaningful opportunities for students and teachers. Her educational philosophy focuses on project-based, student-centered learning while instilling a sense of social responsibility and good citizenship.
In her free time, Jess enjoys cooking and getting outside with her husband and two children. They love digging in the dirt, dance parties and exploring new playgrounds.
