James Pennington-

Grant Manager
James brings a decade of development and nonprofit administration experience to the Annapolis Maritime Museum. He most recently spent 2 1/2 years as the development coordinator at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, where he managed their grants program through to the other side of the COVID pandemic. He also previously worked for Harmony Foundation International and the Barbershop Harmony Society in development and volunteer management roles. James began his career as a sports writer, mostly covering men’s and women’s college basketball in his home state of Kentucky before transitioning into the nonprofit industry.
 
James lives in Annapolis with his wife, daughter and two cats. When he’s not at work, he is an active musician who performs with a vocal group and adjudicates competitions across the country as a certified Barbershop Harmony Society performance judge.
